Your home is your castle, and as the king and queen, you know how everything runs. When it’s time to invite a pet sitter to stay with your pets, be sure you leave the keys to the castle in capable hands. You can put your mind at ease by compiling a #checklist that covers everything from pet care to your home’s quirks.
This doesn’t have to be complicated – start taking notes on your phone or computer. Include the basics about your pet(s), then jot things down as you go through your day. Think about alarm codes, the wi-fi password and which one of your 10 remote controls turns the TV on/off. Then, place sticky notes around your house to tag things that don’t work/are broken, plants that need watering, and where items are stowed away.
Don’t wait to compile your list. Ideally, you want to review everything when your pet sitter comes by for an initial visit to meet you and your pets. This gives you the chance to walk through everything, the pet sitter time to ask questions, and allows you to edit the list before you head out of town.
Here’s a #checklist I use with my clients to help them get started.
